VYC Land Cruisers
January will be the first event
Visit "Winter" the Famous Dolphin

THE TALE OF A TAIL
Many of you have probably already seen or read about the newest movie "Dolphin Tale." Now you will have the opportunity to meet the star performer at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium .
On January 25, 2012 the VYC "Land Cruises" committee is planning a bus tour to Clearwater Marine Aquarium to meet this famous dolphin known as "Winter." This dolphin arrived in Clearwater at the age of two months in December 2006. She tangled with a fishing net which resulted in losing her tail making it very difficult to swim. Venice's Daniel Strzempka , manager of Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics on Pinebrook Road, began working to create a prosthetic tail. During the past five years the tail was continually modified as Winter grew.
The movie company learned of this dolphin and hired writers to coordinate with the aquarium to make a movie in Clearwater as well as train Winter for her debut, which took two months.
The bus will depart VYC at 9:30 A.M. First stop will be St. Petersburg Yacht Club for a luncheon, followed by the tour of the aquarium and to meet Winter. This is planned for men, women, singles, couples and even boaters willing to cruise by bus. All costs will be billed to your VYC account. Cost will be approximately $32.00 per person plus the added cost of the bus.
Seating on the bus is limited so get your reservations in early to assure a seat.
Any questions ? Please call Betty Link, 497-0090. |
